The complexity of these two women is astounding. Yes - I also believe Alicent and Rhaenyra shared more than just "friendship". It is quite easy to blame it all on Alicent. But for the love of God, Rhaenyra is a spoiled little bitch who could have had any man she wanted but NO....she decided to have 3 children with Ser Strong, subjecting her own children to humiliation and ridicule as their legitimacy was constantly questioned. All for her own selfish desires. This story is so tragic. Be it as it may - I am still team BLACK ⚫

@gray, I think we make the mistake of assuming these two young ladies are friends. They are NOT friends. AH literally works for RT. Let's remember what her duties were. AH was RT's tutor. They just happened to spend a lot of time together and were around the same age. let us remember, AH was always in love with Daemon. We see how she is in the beginning when they are at the Joust. Go back and watch how she is while Daemon talks to his niece-wife.....(I swear, I can't). Anywho, yeah, that. I don't think RT was upset about AH marrying her father because she felt betrayed as a friend, I think she was angry that this girl who was beneath her in status, had the audacity to assume her mothers position with the king. How dare she! lol Moreover, to learn she had been keeping the company of her father for years, since her mothers passing. The betrayal/trust factors do stand, but for far, different reasons than what most may have originally assumed. What do you think?

I don’t even dislike Alicent per say. I dislike the inconsistency of the entirety of HOTD atp and it kinda all boils down to the show runners fanfiction around Alicent, especially when they made her unaware of the plans to usurp Rhaenyra when they’ve literally been talking about it since she had Aegon… But no, we deserved Rhaenyra and Laena’s relationship. Alicent deserved to carve her own place out at court and her own little circle. They really missed on the opportunity to make this a piece of Targaryen decadence and political intrigue to give us the most basic form of “women are nothing but victims under this patriarchy” which is true but I feel like they really take away from the fact that women did navigate those systems in a calculated and often very interesting manner. Now we just have anti social pawns.

Can we talk about what the fuck happened to the Qarth story arc?? My god this for me was the first signs of oh no they are ruining it. Qarth in the show was basically pointless. Absolutely nothing happens there. What they did to the House of the Undying was appalling. That was such a huge part in influencing Daenerys going forward and all they did in the show was look the iron throne, oh red keep is destroyed. Here’s the wall. Hey member Drogo and how he died and she lost the baby. Dracarys lol.

I know this is an old video, but to me, the worst change is the narrative change around the treatment female characters. To me, the show feels very contemptuous of femininity: Dany is framed like a male action hero and has all of her girlish wants and desires and fears cut almost completely, Sansa gets treated with next to no respect and an *absurd* level of violence until she becomes a Stone Cold Badass That Feels Nothing, and it’s very clear that they favor Arya because Arya is a cool ninja assassin that hates dresses and girly things and thinks Sansa is stupid. Not to mention the baffling amount of assault scenes that are dragged out for way too long despite them very rarely being described ‘on screen’ in the books, Talissa’s death was needlessly gruesome and very specific to her being a woman, and the twisting to keep the male characters looking honorable despite similar crimes? It just feels gross.

Rhaenyra is more villian than Alicent . She literally using her fathers love for her to break rules. She gaslighting the whole realm about her children, Alicent is not perfect, but Rhaenyra is manipulative , episode 7 is episode where Rhaenyra is villian , not Alicent. I think every actor agreed with this. Its not our world, its Westeros, and in their world Alicent is right about everytjing
